![]() ![]() If you haven't played Mushroom Wars at all though, you may as well suit up and shoot for the stars to see what all the fuss is about. However, it's just as likely they'll be disappointed to see more of the same ol' same ol' and a seeming hesitation to take advantage of all the weird, wacky tricks space could potentially offer the franchise. The Mushroom Wars formula is as cute and addictive as it's ever been, which might be enough to convince long-time fans to transfer to space. The multiplayer option (which allows for three players at once) has also been juiced up a bit with the inclusion of active and passive spells that can be crafted from ingredients you win in said battles. The level packs for Mushroom Wars: Space! take place across differently-themed planets, which is presumably where the “Space!” bit of the moniker comes from. As the mushrooms breed you can send large teams off to complete a level's specified mission, whether it's capturing all the enemy's houses, grabbing certain towers before the other side nabs it, or securing specially-marked houses. You can sacrifice a certain number of a house's inhabitants to expand it, thus letting it fill up with more soldiers. Said manpower is created by capturing mushroom houses and turning them into strongholds wherein your mushroom folk get busy and produce other mushroom dudes in record time. Whatever you need to do generally requires a lot of manpower. Like the first game, Mushroom Wars: Space! has different level goals to meet. Rating: Mushroom Wars is a dynamic real-time strategy game, where smart strategy meets furious action in epic PvP and PvE. This is still about conquering mushroom houses and towers in order to bolster your armies' numbers. This isn't like Angry Birds adding "Space" to its name before flipping its physics system upside-down and backwards. Either way, if you're expecting massive innovation out of Mushroom Wars: Space!, it's not forthcoming. The tiny spore-based denizens still propagate at a speed that would astound a jackrabbit, and they still love annihilating each other in vicious land wars.Īre these two traits related? Hard to say for sure. If you have played the first part, you will enjoy this game twice as much! One of the best games for PlayStation® Network (IGN.com) returns on mobile. There were many times where my little mushroom men were being sent to points other than what I wanted. Another thing that needs work is the accuracy. If not, you’ll have to start all over from the last checkpoint. This can be difficult if there are only 6 levels in-between each checkpoint, which means you have to beat each one on your first try. What I dislike about the game however is that each world has a series of checkpoints that you need to pass within the allotted number of energy you are given (6). Like with most F2P games, you’ll have to unlock these as you play. What’s good is that there are quite a few levels and worlds included with Mushroom Wars: Space. It’s a back and forth game and usually the player with the most troops wins. This is where strategy comes in and you must make sure that you send troops to other bases in order to fortify those locations so that the enemy does not recapture those points. Some bases you hold generate troops while others do not. In order to capture a base, the number of soldiers you send must outnumber the number of occupants in the base. You do so by sending troops from one base to another base. You play against an opposing team and must might to see who can capture all the bases. Mushroom Wars: Space is a game centered around capturing bases. This review will mainly focus on this game alone without any prior knowledge of how any of the other previous games were like. This will be my first introduction to the series so I won’t be comparing this to any of the past games. The latest game in the Mushroom Wars franchise is Mushroom Wars: Space. I have actually never played Mushroom Wars before despite many saying what a good game it was on the PS3. ![]()
